Why buy a Duchy Shepherd Hut?
Introduction
From our workshops in West Cornwall we design and build shepherd huts to your own personal requirements. We can offer you a finished hut or you can fit our the interior yourself. The hut is built to traditional designs, using modern materials to ensure the highest quality and long life.
Our Approach
We build to a high standard, each hut is what we call “coastal rated” to resist the effects of the damp, salt laden Cornish air to ensure a long life and high performance. We believe that this product has the best anti-corrosion treatment of any hut on the market.
Chassis and Frames
The steel chassis and the internal frames are made from box section steel, are very strong and are fully galvanised so the structure will last for decades, therefore protecting your investment from expensive corrosion damage. As far as I know we are the only manufacturers that fully galvanize the chassis and frames.
Outside
To save you time and money on maintenance, we use galvanised and powder coated corrugated iron sheet for the barrel shaped roof and the sides. There is a full size, house quality, engineered hardwood double glazed stable door and a double glazed factory painted wood window. You can choose the size and location of your window(s).
Cladding Colour
You may choose the colour of your hut cladding from the colour chart. The most popular colour is Merlin Grey, followed by Juniper Green and Goosewing Grey.
Anthracite is the default colour for the roof.
Inside
The hut is lined with tongue and groove red wood planking over plywood, painted white and is fully insulated. There is one inch of insulation between the plywood underfloor and the engineered oak planking, two inches in the walls and four inches in the roof. This will keep you comfortable in the summer and cosy in the winter.
Internal Options
You may choose from any number of internal fixtures and fittings for your hut. For example a sofa bed, fixed bed, folding table, partition for a toilet and or shower, a kitchen unit with hob and sink. Your Shepherd's hut can also be fitted out as an office, sewing room, workshop, artist's studio or childrens' play room.
